Christmas time :)

Christmas is only a few days away and with everybody going around stressing and trying to get everything ready for chirstmas. I sat down today and i watched noels christmas present. I just  love seeing people who do such amazing things and such amazing . it breaks my heart break when i hear some of those peoples stories it really makes you think that the things you worry about are so small compared to what some people have to deal with

today three girls from out school went to the eircom spider awards and we won :) we won for out transition year blog as most of you all know by know we have our own blog to keep track of all our experiences in transition year and out ty co-ordinatior Mrs. L has her own blog for Tys that you can visit by clicking this link  http://stwolstansty.blogspot.com/. but occupying Mrs l. to dcu was three girls representing each class from our year and when they returned they went around to each of the classes to show us what everybody work has payed off for congratulation everybody for this amazing achievement :)

mini company

Our mini company is moving fast. we have placed our orders for our product and we should be starting to sell really soon. Our product is for dyslexia it is overlays to help p people with learning difficulties read better. but we have made them for phone screens. we have made a name for our mini company as well we are called colourtec reading, we have also created our logo an will be getting them printed really soon. It is all really exciting seeing something you have worked long and hard to put together finally come together and look like a a proper company. hope to be selling them really soon if you are interested in buying some e-mail my mini company at colourtecread@gmail.com

Project time !!!!

At the moment all our project deadlines are coming closer. our home economics project deadline is soon. this project we have had to make an outfit incorporating a plain white jeans and t-shirt, using a colour scheme and having a inspiration form somewhere. Our inspiration is from pride and prejudice dress with a modern day twist, our colour scheme is purple. It has been allot of fun to make, we have made a corset out of old curtens and used the jeans to make a hat. It has been so much fun.

Work experience !!!!!

The past two days i have been on work experience in a Pre school that works with kids from dis-advantaged areas and kids with disabilities.It is great fun every day i am asked whats your name what are you doing here, and today as i left the school one of the kids runs up to me and says hi teacher, i t is kinda weird to think that is how the kids see me. getting up to my work experience is very tireing to leave for halfi have to get up at half 6 in the morning to be at my  lifts house for 8 o'clock but i have to get a bus up to my lift i do not know how people can do this every day it is so tirering. This is a great experience and i can not wait for the rest of the week.

Busy busy busy !!!!!!

The past few weeks have been exremly busy, there is so much going on in the school at the momment. Alot of are project deadlines are creeping up and it is a big rush o get everything finished on time. A recent project i handed up was my geography one, in his Project we were given the task to plan an around the world trip we did it in groups of two and each person had to do one third world country, one second world country and one first world country. In art we have a new teacher and with that a brand new project, we have to make a neck piece made from wire and paper mashe using autuam feativles as our theams, the festivals are Halloween, Mexian day of the dead, Guy falks day and the mooncae festival. it should be really fun. Next week i ma going on work experience, i am going to a preeschool that works with kids with disabilities and from disadvantaged areas. I am really lookign foward to going on my work experience it should be a really intresting experience. Yesterday in Religon we did an excerise  to do with gender inequality, we eaxh got a peice of paper saying a name and about the person. I was Mary she is 13 years of age she is a travler who lives on s halting site, she has been in 4 different primary schools and no longer gose to school she looks after the reat of her  younger brother and sisters. we were all asked a questions about our person and if  it applied to you you you took a big step foward and if it applied to you a little you took a small step foward. after all the questions were done there was a big gap between two groups and one group represented the third world and one represented th forst world it was really intresting to see what people think of people from the thitrd and first world.

A step back in time !!!

Yesterday we got a talk by my old primary school principle on the history of Celbridge. It was very interesting. He has written a book on the history of Celbridge. He talked about how Celbrideg began and about Castletown house, and the man who built Castletown house Speaker William Connaly.  He built Castletown as his summer house between 1722 to 1729. he only spent weekends and summer in Castletown. There is a lot of  hstory were i live and i never knew about it. We are planning during the good weather for him to come back and bring us on a tour of all the historic sites in Celbridge.

Juno and the Paycock :) !!!

Yesterday all of the Ty's went into town to see Juno and the Paycock in the Abby teather. But before we went to the teather we went to the national library, the national history museum to see the bog bodies, and a YB Yeats exhibit. THe bog bodies were so cool. These are bodies that were found in the bogs here in Ireland and they have been preserved becuase there was no oxygen in the bogs to decaly the flesh so it just turned to leather. Juno and the Paycock.It was a really good play. the set was amazing it look just like a old Ireish tenament house. they made it seem so real, they even had the actors cook real sasages on stage, the smell was amazing but made me so hungry. I would tell people to go and see this play it is sooo good.

Anti buyling week/ fun walk !!!!!!!

About two weeks ago was our anti buyling week. This is a hole week in our school deadicated to help prevent buying in our school. Each day during the annoucments there would be a qoute read about friendship. To end our Anti buying week we have a fun walk. Each year gets a colour,first years were pink , second years were purple, third years were green, Ty's were yellow, fifth years were blue and sixth were balck and white. There is a bit of froendly competition between classes each class comes up with a team which relates to the theam of the week any-buyling and have a little dance or routine and  wichever classes theam is the best will win in that year. here are some pictures from my classes dance.  

Mini company :)

This week we went ot our second mini company workshop. We finally cam up with our product idea. Our idea is to help people with Dilexia. This is something very close to me as i myself am dislexic and i wanted to do something to help. Bassicaly there are coulered overlays as when you are Dilexia you find it hard to read black and white so these take away the glare and helps. but one day as i was on my computer i found it hard to read off of my computer and i came up with the idea to makie stick on overlays for computer screens and my dad who has the same difficulties as i do said he has the same problem as i do but with his phone which he uses to read and send emails for work and the i though of doing the same thing for phones. I am really excited to get this idea up and running and start selling.

creative writing class !!!!!!!

One of my favourite class that i am taking this year is creative writing. I am really enjoying thid calss. over the first few weeks people brought in books that they have read and then read out there favourate quotes form that book. my personal favourate was wild flower girl, it is from the famien trilogy, it is my favourite book of all time. we are usin these peices as an inspiration for our creative writing, now we have read a poem called the locket. bassically the poem is about a boy who's mother has rejected him and kicks him out.
 And now we have been asked to do do a diary as the mother or the as the view of the son or the mother. i did in the view of the mother. Then our teacher asked us to pair up and turn both of you diray entries into a monologue. i will let you know how we get on with that.

Mini companhy!!! Help

Our Mini company is stuck, We have 2 great ideas but some of our group wants to go with one product and the other wants to go with another. So as part of our market research i am asking anybody who looks at my blog for help. What i need you to do is say which product you prefer, Our first product is umbrellas with designs on them, and the other is a pocket that attaches to your bra so when you go out and you have no pockets you have somewhere to put you money and stuff, but the only downfall is you are unable to but your phone in it as the radiation can be a contributing factor to cancer. I hoped you all will help . XP

Carlingford XP

On  Monday and Tuesday all of  my Ty year went to carlingford adventure center and it was amazing. I had so much fun. We did so many things, as soon as we got there we were split up into teams and my team and I went to the challenge course, this was to help our team building, we did a 3D maze in the dark and we had to use our communication and our trust. After lunch my group all went up a HUGE mountain to play a laser gun game. it was so much fun. basically there was two teams a blue team and a red team and you had to hide and shoot and there was medic and if you were hit you had to find a medic so you could play on. It was so much and we were all covered in dirt and mud by the end of it. when we got back to the centre we had dinner we all got assigned  our rooms.i shared in a room with twelve other girls from my year. After we had all got showered and redressed we all went back to the common room for a sing song and our Ty coordinator did a rap for us. After all that we went up to our rooms and we all brought loads and loads of sweets and we all crashed from the sugar rush at around half twelve. When we woke up the next morning we got our breakfast and packed up our bags and cleaned out our rooms and put all of our bags in a room to be collected later. the first thing we did on the second day was orienteering, we were given a map ant told to find letters that had been painted on different objects that you could find up the moutain. It was allot of fun until my friend lauren and I got lost on the mountain, we sat down for a mineute and cause we got tired but we we looked back we couldn't find the group so we went with what we thought was the right way but we ended up  making our way back to the adventure centre we had everybody worried. the last thing we did was absailing and rock climbing it was so much fun. If i got the chance i would definitly go again it was so much fun !!!!!!

second weeek of Ty.

hey my name is orlaith and i am in transiton year. It is my second week of  Ty and i am loving it. This week we had social development but unfortunately i couldn't go but what i have heard from the other people in my class it was great fun. Next week is going to be a very busy week as we have our Ty trip to Carlingford . We are leaving on Monday and coming home on Tuesday and on the Wednesday we will be receiving our Junior cert results so by Thursday we will all be exhausted but it should all be good fun. :-)
